 December 2009

President's Message:

I want to start out by thanking our past president Paul Morigeau for all his hard work and continued dedication to soccer in and around the Red Deer area.  Paul has done a considerable amount of work in the background and foreground in our club and his unrelenting desire to bring and maintain the highest level of competetive soccer in Red Deer and to surrounding communities.  As a result we have seen great successes by our teams and as a club in whole.

I also want to thank the previous past board for all their hard work and dedication.

I now welcome the new board to our club as I see great things from this board in developing programs and committees to further our club expansion.

The October 28, 2009 Annual General Meeting was a great success with strong representation from the concerned parents, to coaches and to past members of our club.  The group sent a strong message of support to the club and have elected 17 members to be apart of the club executive and members at large to help direct your club.

Please offer your congratulations and thank you's to your elected board when you see them at your club games and functions as they are continue to work hard for your club and for our atheletes.  You could even go as far as to say "is there anything that I might be able to do that would help our club out".  One thing our club has over a lot of other clubs in Alberta is good volunteers.  Our volunteers are the greatest and are always looking for ways to help out in the club.  From big things like the set up and teardowns of our indoor facility three times a season, to sitting at the Westerner doors to collect admission fees, there are spots for everyone and I thank each and everyone of our volunteers personally right now for their dedication and hard work to this club, without you we would be nothing.  For those who who have not volunteered yet but are thinking about what can I do to help, please just contact me or Nancy te Stroete and we will gladly help look for a spot for you on the club volunteer list that best suits your talents.

Please check your Renegade web page for your list of your club executives at www.renegadessc.com and get to know your board members.

New Business:  By having such a large and diverse and talented Board of Directors, you as members of the Renegades Soccer Club can expect more concrete definition of direction that the club is moving in and with a belief in our mission statement.

Mission Statement:   To deliver competetive soccer to all ages and skill levels in our city and surrounding communities.  To develop top level coaching and technical skill development to our atheletes and coaches.  To help all our athletes achieve their dreams and goals in soccer.

As a Board, we will be better organized and with clear and concise club goals for our atheletes in soccer.  We will develop their skills and desires to make this club the most sought after model of how a club is to be managed and how to have success and to be great ambassadors for Red Deer and area and for soccer in Alberta.

Thank you to everyone who makes up our membership and thank you for showing confidence in your new Board.

If you have concerns, please bring them to our attention so that we can work through any challenges that may present themselves.

We look forward to continued success of our teams and you will be very pleased with the direction of our Technical Director and his Technical committee.

Ado will be seen at some of your home games as well as at some of your practices to help your atheletes and your coaches with fine tuning and proper expectations and progressions for the age group of our atheletes.  This way as they children advance in age grouping their skill levels are also developing specific for their age group.

Ado's team of technical coaches are very excited to see the continued success of our team coaches as they strive to have all our coaching staff NCCP certified and to have them continue on to the highest level of coaching available to them.  By having coaches certified we can again offer skill development that other clubs can not.  We want to become a club with high ranking certified coaches and we are well on our way to acheiving this goal right now.

A special thanks to the coaches for their dedication to the sport and to our atheletes.  Coaches rarely mention the amount of time that they put into coaching per week, but I will, on average a coach will invest 10-15 hours per week into coaching, planning and still volunteering to their club, so please don't forget to thank your volunteer coach for all the work that you see and don't see them doing.

In closing, I would also like to mention that we are in negotiations with RDCSA and United Football Club to look at ways to bringing soccer back together and to strive towards working together to mend fences and really show the soccer world that Red Deer is serious about soccer and that we can overcome any challenges and we will.  I look forward to continueing to look after the needs of our Renegade Soccer Community and I look forward to meeting all of you soon.

Yours in Soccer

Don McLeod
